Product design that de-risks the build
We design apps and platforms around evidence, not opinions — discovery, research, Figma prototypes and usability testing that prove an idea works before you spend serious money engineering it.
How we approach it
The most expensive mistake in software is building the wrong thing well. Engineering is the costly part of any product, so the cheapest place to be wrong is in design — where a change costs hours, not months. Our product design work exists to move risk forward: we find out what users actually need, prove the idea in a clickable prototype, and only then hand it to engineers. It’s the difference between betting £15,000 on a hunch and investing it in something already validated.
Every engagement starts with discovery. We interview the people who’ll use the product, map their current workflow, and pin down the one or two jobs the product must do brilliantly. From there we prototype in Figma — real screens, real copy, real flows you can click through on your phone — and put those prototypes in front of actual users. Watching five people struggle with a screen teaches you more than fifty stakeholder meetings, and it costs a fraction of shipping the mistake.
For products with any ambition, we build a design system alongside the screens: reusable components, spacing and type scales, and interaction patterns documented once and applied everywhere. That keeps the product coherent as it grows and makes every future feature cheaper to design and build. It also makes MVP scoping honest — we help you draw the line between the version that proves the business case and the wishlist that can wait for revenue.
Because our designers and engineers are one team, nothing is lost in handoff. The people who design the screens sit with the people who build them, so Figma files translate into working software without the usual arguments about what a spec meant. If we go on to build the product — as a web app, mobile app or platform — the design system becomes the component library. Fixed pricing, agreed upfront, starting with a free 30-minute scoping call.
Product Design, done properly
Discovery that finds the real problem
Stakeholder and user interviews, workflow mapping and competitor analysis that separate what users say they want from what they’ll actually use.
User research, not guesswork
We talk to the people who’ll live in the product and turn what we learn into decisions — personas grounded in interviews, not demographics invented in a meeting.
Prototyping in Figma
Clickable, realistic prototypes with real copy and real flows — something you can test with users and show investors long before engineering starts.
Usability testing
We watch real users attempt real tasks on the prototype, find where they stall, and fix it in hours — instead of discovering it in production reviews.
Design systems that scale
Reusable components, type and spacing scales, and documented patterns that keep the product coherent and make every future feature cheaper.
Design-to-code by one team
Our designers and engineers work side by side, so designs ship as intended — no handoff gap, no “that’s not what the Figma showed” arguments.
From first call to launch
- 01
Discover
Interviews with users and stakeholders, workflow mapping and a clear definition of the problem worth solving. You get findings in writing, not a slide deck of platitudes.
- 02
Prototype
Wireframes evolve into high-fidelity, clickable Figma prototypes with real content — reviewed with you weekly so nothing appears as a surprise.
- 03
Test & refine
Usability sessions with real users on the prototype. We fix what confuses them and retest, so the design is proven before engineering is priced.
- 04
Hand off or build
A documented design system and annotated flows ready for any engineering team — or ours, where the designers stay involved through to launch.
Product Design questions, answered
Why invest in design before development?
Because changing a Figma screen costs hours and changing shipped software costs weeks. Custom builds start around £15,000, and design is how you make sure that money builds the right thing. A validated prototype settles arguments with evidence, gives engineers an unambiguous target, and regularly cuts scope by revealing features users don’t actually need. Design isn’t a cost added to the build — it’s insurance on it.
What does an MVP scoping engagement look like?
We run discovery to find the core job your product must do, then help you draw a hard line between the version that proves the business case and everything that can wait. You leave with a prioritised feature list, a clickable Figma prototype of the MVP, and a fixed quote to build it. Most scoping engagements take two to four weeks, and the output is useful even if someone else builds it.
How do you run usability testing?
We recruit five to eight people who match your real users, give them genuine tasks to attempt on the prototype, and watch — over video call or in person — without leading them. Five sessions typically surface the majority of serious usability problems. You get recordings, a prioritised list of issues, and revised designs, then we retest the fixes. It’s fast, inexpensive and brutally honest.
Do you work with our existing development team?
Yes, happily. We deliver organised Figma files, a documented design system with components and tokens, and annotated user flows that any competent engineering team can build from. We can also stay involved during the build for design QA — reviewing what’s shipped against the designs — which is where quality usually slips when designers walk away at handoff.
What does product design cost?
It depends on scope: a discovery-and-prototype engagement for an MVP is priced very differently from a full design system for an established product. Every engagement is fixed-price, agreed in writing after a free 30-minute scoping call, so you know the total cost before we start. If design is part of a wider build with us, it’s scoped and priced within that single fixed quote.
